:hugs I’m sorry about your day and your chick. :hit I hope you have a better day tomorrow.

And oh wow that is expensive!! Ha
Thank you. I am pretty upset... I don't think I will ever be cavalier about loosing a chicken. this particular one has had a long family line of tragic losses. Like this lineage is not supposed to be passed on and I LOOOVED his daddy. I thought i had made it through the dangerous time for him. So sad and mad.

I took this photo earlier but could not download because i just got a new phone and was trying to figure it out... while unloading groceries after a long day... while my stupid dog just killed a very special chick of mine that should have been safe... Bad day. Deep breath. :th
K. don't know if you can tell the size. Not one of the heavy duty compressed ones, just a normal bale. This feed run was $117.23 and just topping off our stash. Hurricane season I like to be a little more stocked up on pet food too. I do not like that they wrap them in shrink wrap. Sorry people.View attachment 1892768 and it's Timothy

Wow over $41 for just that small bale of hay? Are those 20kg bags of Alfa?

Hay prices vary so much over here in the UK depending on what & where you buy from. This year we have had round bales done from some grass I was given so only had to pay for the cutting & baling of it. But if I were buying it would be anything from £30-£50 a bale which would last me approx 2-4 weeks depending on weather for Harry horse. We just got these last 5 under cover before the heavens opened!

Those look pretty awesome and a good deal. Pretty neat someone gave you their grass to cut and bale. Your price sounds similar to ours if I am figuring correctly. Still a money saver.
Cubes are 50 pound bags = 22.67kg

The $17 something for the cubes is about what it is here. When I got my horses 19 years ago we could get square bales for $1 per bale, haven't bought hay in years but the last I bought was a 6x6 round bale of pure alfalfa and it was somewhere around $60-70ish but it lasted 2 years because I don't feed straight alfalfa.

Wow that’s awesome!! And it was still good two years later!? :th

Do you grow your own hay now? Is that why you don’t buy?

It finally happened! I know i have mentioned on horse threads that one of the rescues was pregnant and I had first dibs on the colt. The first vet check he did not catch pregnancy but my friend sent him some blood and that came up positive. Mare was farther along than vets physical and that's why he miss it and not as far along as we guessed. So... after a very long and much anticipated wait... here he is!!!! No special spots like Dad but pretty as mamma. He arrived around 10:30 pm last night. I go see him today- most excited!! Will get more photos :D:D:D:D
