Who has purchased eggs from ebay ? and what was your hatch rate ?

Hehehe. I have thought about making and incubator but I think that will be a project for next year. :)
I name all of mine if I can think of enough names, no matter what their future. :)

Thanks guys, appreciate support both chicks are out and fluffy, I can't stop looking at them so cute. Here's a pic. They keep pecking each others eyelids is this normal ?
400

The one that is laid down hatched last. My sisters have secretly named them cracker and cheese lol !

I love that the one is sitting on top of the others head. I will tell you to be careful of the eye pecking. We have a Dominique hen that has only one eye because of it being pecked out by others. We got her that way. Here original owner did not have the heart to cull her when it happened as a chick. I her Precious and she eats from my hand. She has her place in the coop so she can see all of the other hens. She gets along fine though. My husband has her trained to come to him when he is handing out treats. She patiently waits while he throws treats to the other hens and after doing so, he lays them in front of her so she gets her share. There was an incident when she scratched eye area a little too hard, boy did it bleed. I removed her to the other side of the coop (we have a chicken wire wall with a door in the middle) and all she wanted to do is get back to her perch on the other side. We made her stay overnight. The next day the bleeding stopped and she has done just fine.

Well now the younger chick is strengthening up s/he gives the older chick a bite back when s/he does it. So hopefully we won't get any damaged eyes or eyelids x
Good, she is standing up to bullying....very good sign. We have 23 full grown hens and two are actually bantam size. I have some giants too...Barred Rock, Dominique and Buff Orps. One of the Dominiques was standing over our bantam "Cutie" and just stare down at her. Cutie kept at her pecking and did not loose ground. Finally she got tired of it and she flew up and hit her with her feet making that Dominique take off. Cutie does not typically peck at others or start anyting but she also does not take any ones guff. YOU GO GIRL!

Hahaha loving it! She sounds like a chicken that don't take no SH-IT. Yes the older one can no longer bully as they are both at the same strength ! Hope they don't bully my other 6 that are due to hatch !

hi john, dont know where you are, but here (france) i buy 4/5 week old chicks for 2 euros 80 cts each and if you have growers near you im sure they would sell to you.. yes i dont know what breeds you want , mine are red star, black star and bare necks, all good layers and eaters. you can easily (depending on where you live) source your eggs locally if thats the road you want. good luck in what you do.

If they are not making very unhappy peeps when they get pecked it is probably harmless and chickie curiousity! If someone sounds hurt then I would worry and possibly separate them or turn off the lights (unless your heat source is a light) to make them sleep until they have more siblings to play with and won't focus just on each other. :)

One of the Laced Lavender Experiment pullets...

Wow, she is a beaut! I love the lacing! I would love to see your continued experiment and hope you can make the lacing contrast even more! :)
If I were to get eggs from you, how would that work? What is your pricing and stuff? :)
My incubator is almost full, but I have enough room for at least 8 more eggs right now so I have the "must-fill-incubator-syndrome" whenever I look at it. Hehe.
