He pipped UPSIDE DOWN and that was it...
I took the egg out tonight hatch day to see what was taking so long, and the egg stuck to the liner/shelf. I quickly pulled it away flipped it over to see brown membrane through the pip where it had obviously been exposed for a day or so.. I peeled away the shell cuz I could see turkey through the pip but no beak.. peeling, peeling, peeling, and finally got to him.. looks great other than being dead
yolk absorbed, fully grown... why do I keep having so many upside down pips? I EVEN MADE SURE I PUT THE EGG AIRCELL UP when going into the hatcher...
28 days and no turkey... 8 eggs or so and only 1 fertile and NO turkey.
OK... I'm waiting, yet again. My first ever batch of Chukar eggs from Tony (Steelshot) and I think I have 23 in the hatcher, due Sunday. I'm leaving town tomorrow, leaving hubby in charge! bwahahahahaha!!!
j/k About being gleeful about it all. I feel like a new mother going out on the town for the first time with Jr. I'm a little anxious, but I'm hoping the hatch will go well without our nose-prints on the lid.
12 Bobwhites went in there, too. Last time I hatched a dozen bobwhites, all of them hatched within an hour of the first one leaving the shell...
