3 new Key West chicks joined the flock in the wee hours this morning, they are so cute.
The whiteish one should be a red shoulder but the other two will be wait and see's as the colors on the Key Wests are so blended, it will be fun to see how they turn out..
I'm up to 21 babies but 1 has a problem. Hoping someone can help...
One of my new chicks that hatched overnight last nught was laying on its back this morning. I picked it up as soos as I saw it, but every time I try to put it down it just starts kicking with its right leg out to the side and flips itself back onto its back. Any help? Please! I don't know what to do with her b/c I can't put her down or she just flips over. Of course it's 1 of the BC Marans chicks too.

thats how our little "half a chick" acted that had spraddle leg. you might do a search for spraddle leg and try the bandaid thing to old its legs together. Unfortionatly ours didnt make it
I have one that hatched early this morning, and there are still 5 left unhatched under the hen.. Does anyone know how long I wait for the others to hatch before I remove the eggs from under her?
So far 6 have hatched from Marie's eggs and there is five or six more pips. I will post a picture when they dry off some. 11 left for this batch to hatch.
Those are good hatching vibes for everyone hatching today !!!
We have 16 in the brooder and 12 peeping the the shells right now. I am shocked! The LG still air has been all over the place in with temps and humidity and we are still going to increase our flock! Pip on Chicks!
oh good...we have company for this hatch....today is day 19 and everything looks good.....but DH didnt want me to candle eggs this time, so we didnt so I am not feeling very hopeful.
I'm on day 20 today with my penedesenca eggs. Out of 14, 4 were tossed because they were either clear or scrambled. I tried to candle the remaining 10 on several occasions, but the shells are so dark, I was only able to see movement in 5. However, I put all 10 in the hatcher b/c they seemed to fill up the shells, and I didn't want to give up on them.
On day 19, my DH inadvertently unplugged the hatcher
. The temp dropped to 70 for a little over an hour. So, if there was any hope, I've just about lost it all. I've not seen the eggs move at all.
