Come on little chicks!

I am going nuts, waiting on ONE LITTLE QUAIL the size of my thumbnail!!!

How is it that something so tiny can reduce a grown woman to - well, a looney?

Tonight is day 21 for me, and right now am at work. I am hoping they are ok because we had 3 2hr power outages, hopefully it just slowed them down. As soon as I realized the power was out on went some heavy linens over the bator to keep it warm. I'm hoping when I get home tonight I got some pipping.

I went to see my mom over the weekend and she bought me a couple of frizzles, and some silkies. It's pretty exciting. I put them with my broody hen and she's taking care of them as she had three babies already.

I haven't incubated eggs in years but got the itch so I picked up 5 turkey eggs at a poultry auction. They have 2 days to go and I picked one up this afternoon and I hear tapping inside.
When I set the turkey eggs I decided to put one turken egg in there. The turken hatched 3 days ago. I forgot how exciting it was to hear the chick calling from inside of the egg.
In hindsight I should have put a few more turken eggs in because this little one is lonely now.
I have a second incubator going with showgirl eggs in it. I was so excited to see the first chicks that I couldn't wait for one of the silkie hens to go broody so I started collecting them and set them in the incubator. Three days after I set them one of the hens went broody on an empty nest. So I took 4 eggs out of the incubator and slipped them under her. I bred my white showgirl roo to the best white silkie hens I could find. I am so looking forward to this hatch.
And I purchased more turkey eggs from someone on here....2 dozen.
After this many years I am still amazed to hear the chicks inside of the eggs and see them hatch. It just doesn't seem to get old.

(BTW - that's 1/4" hardware cloth. I forgot to put the rubber matting in there before the eggs! but it helps with the perspective)
