I lucked out big time! I have a dozen Coturnix quail pipped as of now. This is my miracle batch. I threw 17 eggs away that were rotted before I got them and some cracked eggs and some ruptured air cells. My 72 quickly got whittled to 44 eggs. Then I came home one afternoon to find the temp hit 110. I was panicked and trying everything to get the tempature down and managed to. I thought I was going to have to throw out all my quail and pheasant eggs. But I double checked a few days later and found movement in them so kept them. I have another 30 healthy looking eggs that should hopefully pip soon. If not I'm happy that I got a dozen at the least from this batch. I almost gave up hatching for the year.
Yay, Ace!!!! Woot! That would be enough to start a brood of your own! I wound up with 35... we lost 3 after hatching, one of which was blind and malformed... omphalitis (mushy chick) - cute in a homely way, but no eyes! Hubby did the deed for me... I couldn't do it. But I still have 35 beauties to start with, and my single pair has started laying, so I can hatch those, too!
