UPDATE:

6 hatched, 10 pipped....yayyyyyyyyy, chickies,

I am pretty sure one died after pipping. Have seen no movement since yesterday morning when it pipped.

we thought we lost a chick, it was hatching in the nesting box and the mother jumped out and tipped the box over the the egg fell out, but the oegb chick (we think is a male) hatched and is already learning to jump on the pirch.

2 Barred Rock's hatched, 1 Buff Orp hatched, with 3 more BR pipped & 3 Buff's pipped. 3 eggs still with nothing.

I think this may be my best hatch yet!!!!

We are trying (very impatiently I think) our first hatch under our own chickens. We are so excited (it's hard to let them do all the work) so we go and visit every hour or so....or every ten minutes or so (depending on how much school the kids are getting done)

Which by the way seems to work very well......."You can go check on the eggs as soon as you're done with math and spelling!"

If I'd known that they'd do this much school just to go check out some eggs I would have done this YEARS ago!

My chicks are finally done hatching (for this week anyway!) I have 6 little black/blue and white, and 3 little white ones! My first whiteys!! And they ARE white! I thought white chickens hatched out yellow?

I had a crappy hatch, but I'm happy. I had 4 of 18 BR eggs hatch.
I need to get a better pic....

I am up to 2 Buff Orp's from Hinkjc and 2 Barred Rocks from Cynthia that have hatched and I have 2 more Barred Rocks that are zipping and 2 Buff's that are pipping & zipping. I cannot believe how much better breed buff orp's are than hatchery quailty. Just Gorgeous!!! They are so nice and a nice dark golden color!! And the Barred Rocks are so adorable!!! I will talk to the bator and they come running. So cute!!
