Who is pipping and waiting right now??

New baby is still active this morning. Toes still curled, so I fashioned a boot for "Norton". Hope this works. I do not feel certain that he/she can be with the others yet, so it still remains isolated. Rather clumsy with the boot still not putting any pressure on it. Have dipped beak into water and food. Poor thing needed a drink of warm water really bad! I erred, with the one left. Due on Sat. not today.

Sorry to hear it Shelleyd.

What was I thinking,
Did you lay the wrong in pipped eggs down horizonal, or were they standing with the small end down? I've started laying my eggs down horizonal on day 18 when I take them off the turner.

My 10th of 10 finally hatched two days after the first one. I cannot tell which one it is but I was only going to give it one more day.

I have transferd them all over to the big cardboard box with the faux hen over a heating pad. They all look healthy so far. One nice green poop so far after having being given a drink.

There is a green rubber shelf liner between the heating pad and the chicks. As they poop and get their legs I will start adding pine shavings. Right now I have added only chick starter over the green pad so they can find the food.

I think half of them are purebred black giants and the other half are the mutts. One has a red tint so I know it is a mutt and it's probably a roo.

I have 41 eggs in my bator, it is late on day 20 , I have 2 pips and at least 12 more just starting!!!!

The temp & humidity is right on (has been through out hatc ,except a 4 hour power outage).
When I stopped the turner I was going to use the egg carton method, but I took it out, it looked to tight with 41 eggs (no room for the chicks.) so I have them on the screen floor of bator. Let you know it turns out. All Chicken eggs, but still have some turkey eggs under chicken hens in the coop!!!!!!

Its day 20 on 9 ee's and nothing yet. Mine usually hatch a day early so this had me worried. I haven't bothered to candle until last night because the eggs are green and hard to see through but since I was so worried I thought I would try. I didn't see any movement at all but I did hear one internal PEEP. YIPPIEE. I'm not as worried now so hopefully it want be long. Good luck eveyone!

Last baby did not make it. Seems to have pipped on the wrong end and most likely drowned. All is not lost and still have other eggs to set! A New Years chick sounds fun! Should we work on that next?
Good luck to the rest of you!

Congrats all.

Sorry about the last baby mrandmrschicken.

Hey Chillin, How is Sadie? Haven't heard in a while. Do you Have a post somewhere?

Go miss_jayne. How many?

Here's a pic of the last chick to hatch with it's little boot on, to take the curl out of the toes. It is now drinking and eating on its own too. he can go in with his brothers and sisters when he is walking better. For now, have turned off and cleaned out the incubator. Will wait for the next temptation!
Also, finally got my new 6 month old bantam cochin today. She is very nice and fluffy!
Good luck to you all. I will continue to monitor this thread.
