My husband laughed when I told him by the time the other hatches Itsy will be bigger. They will be called Itsy and Bitsy.

They should be hatched by the time we leave for vacation!!!

I can put them in the brooder with plenty of food / water and let them go.

Okay, Here I go. My Hovabator arrived yesterday. I am fiddling with it to get the temperature to hold. It seems to be about right on. I think I will set my eggs in it on Saturday. That should make hatch day be three weeks from Saturday when my kids will be here. I hope all goes well. This is the first time I will have used an incubator. Years ago I kept chickens when we lived in Minnesota. They were always broody hatched and raised. I'll let you know how things go.

Well I will be right with you on that hatch. My eggs should be here tomorrow, so I may be a day or 2 behind you.

I tis always fun to have someone to share your hatching with.

I checked on Frilly when I got home. She can not stand on her own. It doesn't look like her legs are splayed, but she just falls over to one side.

I checked on little upside down Bob too. I was able to peel back a little more of the shell and then I saw blood again. I was able to shine my flashlight down into his egg and saw that his yolk was not absorbed either. I gently put him back in hatcher to wait out his time.... I don't want to give up on him just yet.

Any ideas for Frilly?

I would say put her in a separate box with some padding, like an old towel that will be easier for her to grip, or stack some paper towels, (these 2 things are good traction) newspaper can be slippery to a chick and a 40 watt bulb for warmth. I put Bitsy in the brooder when she was having a little trouble standing and the outcome, when I checked a little bit ago, was not good. Bitsy has gone to join Our Savior in Heaven, along with the many others I have sent to Him.

She had dried in the incubator and I thought the straw and towel would help her, just did not think she would get smashed.

I can just smack myself.

The last 2 are still working on coming out. They are large guys, so do not have to worry about them as much, just that they make it out alive.

Poor Itsy is the lone bantie, so she is going to get spoiled.

I will post a picture of them as soon as the others hatch. I should have put Bitsy in the box by herself, I knew she was not doing great and was to tiny for the bigger chicks.

Itsy will just have to be one of those little tough kids, with a little bit of my help she will do fine. I guess I should have put a few more small eggs in the incubator. I just did not think she would hatch after the girl had her eggs in the refrigerator.

Come on Frilly. Walking vibes coming to you.
