Who is with me?

The membrane is definitely stuck to it. I moistened it with a warm wet q-tip and peeled away a tiny bit more shell so that its head is out. There was no blood at the head, but I stuck the q-tip farther down a bit into the shell and there was some blood so I stopped. I don't have any press n' seal stuff but I loosely wrapped it in plastic wrap with the head out so it can breathe. Now I guess I'll just wait.

And I have opened the bator way too much, I hope the other eggs are ok. Today is turning out to be a depressing hatch day.

Now what are my other eggs doing?? There are 4 pipped, 9 nothing going on, and the 1 that hatched.

I think the hatched one was in a strange position and its membrane got dried to it after it pipped the hole and sat there for hours unable to move. The chick had its wing locked over top of its head and couldn't twist around to zip. Once I gently moved that wing over the head it kicked the rest of the shell right off...

I have been doing it all night! Today is my grandpa's birthday and I went to visit him and told him I was hatching chicks in honor of his birthday and he was thrilled.

I have 5 pipped, and the chick I helped out is perfect! But get this...it has four toes on one foot and five toes on the other foot! What in the world? LOL. The mother is an SF and the father is an EE, so I guess the chick got a leg from each parent...I wonder if both legs are feathered. I remember seeing feathers on one leg....

Well I am on count down for my pheasants.

6 days to go

Come the 7th, you are not going to be able to peel me away from the bator. If I have 4 pips, I will be checking the ones with the huge air sac to see what is going on. If they are not pipped come the 8th I will be doing emergency c sections on the eggs and hope the baby inside is still breathing.

5 days to go for my Red Golden Pheasants

Well I was working all day trying to get my coop back together, being I had to take one wall off to finish my coop. Well my coop is enclosed with a 8 1/2 to 9 ft fence so I never imagined anything climbing over. I went out yesterday morning and had 5 dead chickens and body parts from 3 or 4 more. I was devastated.
