Who is with me?

Should I move him with the egg attached? Would that not cause the little bit of yoke to dry on the outside of him? I have to go check him again. May I can use gauze to keep the last of the yoke soft and set him in the brooder in a bowl or something.

I am just at a loss. I have never seen this happen, so I have no clue.

I will let you know what I decide after I check on him. I guess this is a learning experience we all get to learn from.

1) Do not allow temp spikes with staggered eggs, it really screws things up.

2) Next person can post something.

It would be hard to get a pic of this. Most of the yoke is absorbed, there is probably an inch that has been attached since 7:45AM, it is now 2:38PM. I do not want to break anything in fear of the baby bleeding to death.

Get back with you shortly.

He is in a bowl in the brooder. I stuck him in the Microwave to dry him off. (Just joking) I put him on top of a towel and used damp gauze to keep the yoke area soft. I then heated a wash cloth and put it on top of him.

WWD, what should I try for drying him off? It is a bit hard to do with the yoke and shell still attached.

CB, Sounds like you are doing everything you can. Maybe after the yolk absorbs and you can take the gauze and washcloth off he'll fluff up. Mine were never fluffy until everything sucked up that was gonna suck.

Oh my, that was funny!!! Thank you for that!

Hoping your little fuzzy makes it through okay!! This is definitely a learning experience, sitting here reading your posts.

Ya know there are times when my thoughts have strayed to the microwave with some of the pull-your-hair-out hatchlings. Ruddybuggers.

How big is the shell piece still stuck to him?

Well, he got the shell off, but still had the cr-p hanging out. I was also losing him, he was barely moving (at first I thought he was dead). Then I realized he still had some life in him. SO, I took a gauze sqaure and put it on where the sac was still sticking out and took gauze wrap and wrapped it around him, taping at the loose end. Then back in the incubator he went. I boosted the temp up to 102. He has been in there for a couple hours now, but he is moving more, or should I say, he is showing more life. I will post some pictures as soon as I download my camera.

Yes, Chickiemama, there are pheasant pictures also, along with pictures of my horse. I will post as soon as I get done feeding so some of you will not see them until morning. Or until you get up at 2AM just to check and see if you missed anything.

Or maybe, just maybe, you are still on at 2 AM.

Looks like bator conversion idea won't work. The 1588 is a low voltage bator and mine is not. I've ordered the wafer to replace the one I destroyed. What I'll probably end up doing is selling one of my bators and then buying the genesis!!!! OH YEAH!
