Who is with me?

OK, I have two in the brooder doing great.

I have one that broke halfway out of the shell but still has the yolk and is attached to the egg. One other one just piped but he is going slow.

Check this out, Five toes. Just like me.

As I stated above, I received my Red Golden Pheasant eggs today. I won them from a Presale bid back at the end of March. I was so excited when I came home and the eggs were here. Then I thought, I did not order eggs from anyone. I opened the box and then remembered.

For those of you that do not know what a Red Golden Pheasant is, here is a picture. I sure hope some hatch and I really hope I have at least 1 male. They take 23 to 28 days to hatch, if you keep the incubator plugged in.

Hey countrybum,
Earlier you had mentioned that you had eggs with big air sacs that got suffocated. Perhaps I am just being too worried for nothing but I just cant help but feel worried. The air pockets seem to take up about a third of the eggs, is that normal. This is still only day 20 though. I still have 6 more eggs that, I am almost certain have chicks in them.
This has been an experience. I had temp. spikes up to 105-106. I unpluged the incubator trying to check on the chicks while I was half asleep, I reallized this 12 hours later. Chicks started peeping hours after I started raising humidity. I just still dont understand how all this comes from an egg. I just heard another egg peeping.

Well you should see pips either today or tomorrow. If the air sac is taking up about a 1/3 of the egg, I would say they are being shrink wrapped, but to be certain, candle and look for an Arch in the egg. If you see it you will know what I am talking about. If that is there, it is for sure shrink wrapped.

You are only on day 20 so you still have a day. The high spike is bad, but the lower you would give extra hatching time.

Hang in there for one more day.

Excitement rises.

I just candled my eggs that are due on the 21st and 22nd.

The 21st is the Jersey Giant chicks (the replacement eggs for the ones that were broken), 2 of them and they seem to be going strong. Their air sac is a little large, but nothing like my last batch. Then I have 10 hatching on the 22nd and they seem fine, air sacs and all.

Last of the candling, now it is the waiting that is going to kill me.

I went through all my eggs again. I only found two that are still alive. If those live it will make 5 out of 13 eggs. I think that the chicks did suffocate cause they looked fully developed, they just died before the hatch.

I will do better next time, I have my eye on some more dorking eggs.

5 days to go for my last 2 Jersey Giants, both moving still

, 6 days for some of my own eggs. Then I am just down to the odd ball egg, Guineas, Peafowl and Red Golden Pheasant. May be it for me, this year.

Well maybe I can get one batch in to take to auction.

I had 2 survivors!!!! Butter and Buzz are both doing GREAT. I promise I'll post some pics later on.

All my others were shrink wrapped.

I had some of silkies from JenLynn4 in there too.

I have some more to more into the hatcher tomorrow that SHOULD hatch out if I don't run into any problems. There are some Golden Seabrights in this bunch. I think I actually staggered my hatches so I wouldn't have all my eggs from one person in a hatch. I think I still have a chance at the silkies.

I have a couple of cochins in there too and also some of Lisa's (dipsydoodledoo).

CountryBum.... Do you have any suggestions to keep babies from being shrink wrapped???? When I candled a few minutes ago, a couple looked like they have really large airsacs. Can these still be saved?
