Who is with me?

UPDATE:

#1 Blue Jersey Giant out and I think I screwed up. I looked in the incubator and it had its beak stuck in the square on the wire and was unable to move. So I opened and helped it. Upon lifting it to free it from the square, it broke it free from the egg. Blood started dripping from the cord. I did get the bleeding stopped, but now it is just waiting to see if it pulls through.

#2 is still breathing and in the shell. Good that it is still breathing, no rush they actually still have 1 more day.

#3 Surprise baby, due to it being tiny and D did not have banties is a different story. I tapped her egg to hear for movement and there was none. I candled the egg and there was a slight movement, it had been trying to break through all night. I opened the end and it is not doing well. I hope getting it air helps, but will see.

Come on little chickies.

Out of 14 Pheasant eggs, I had 2 without fertility and 4 ?, and 8 fertile. Funny the best shipped fertility rate I have received is in Pheasant eggs.

Hope the little bantie does better now that it can get air. I am sorry to hear about Blue JG. Now that the bleeding has stopped maybe she will just perk right up. You had to do something! She couldn't move with her beak in the mesh.

Keep us updated

Well she still has a little mass outside her stomach which I hope will go away. I moved her out of the incubator and put her in the brooder box with a washcloth. She is not looking well, but fingers are crossed that she perks up.

As for the bantie (maybe she will be a new version of bantie, due to coming from 2 full size chickens) she is a little perkier.

No pips from the others, but they are not really due until the 22nd.

I need a web cam so I can watch all my little future babies while I am at work. I work in IT but honestly, I have no idea how to do something like that.

Hmmmm...... Might have to investigate something like that.

I can see the MasterCard commercial now:

2 Styrofoam Incubators...........$200
RubberMaid containers for Brooders......$50
Tons of eggs (incl shipping).......$100
Web Cam.......... $50
----------------------------------
Getting 1 chickie to hatch...... Priceless

Well, #1 BJG seems to be acting better, but stills has the little ball of stuff on its belly. Just have to wait and see what happens there.

#2 is working on getting out of the shell, leaving alone and letting it take as much time as needed. Just watching so it does not do the same thing and get the beak stuck. If so, I know to be more careful this time.

Itsy bitsy, (I have never hatched a bantie this small) is doing a lot better and working her way out. Come on little baby. Cannot wait to get a picture and post it. More fingers crossed.

Here are the 2 JGs and itsy bitsy. I think even the banties I have hatched have been bigger than her. I will post better pictures when they are completely dry and up and moving.

I had to put them in a box because the brooder has older chicks in it and I did not want these guys smashed.

Also, I have a pip.

"Frilly" egg is still pipped.... Maybe just beginning to zip but it is slow going. I think she is resting for the time being. Come on "Frilly"

Well, Here's an update! You know I always get so impatient.... Frilly has really not progressed much since this morning. So I decided I would give her an extra "help". She is a black something. However, when I finally got her out, just a little bit of her yolk was still out. I have wrapped her up in a warm paper towel an she is still chirping away.

AND

As I was putting Frilly back into the bator, I noticed one of the Golden Seabright eggs had pipped on the small end.

I thought it was hopeless, it didn't look like the little guy could breathe. I pulled back just enough membrane so he could breathe. I saw blood, so I've wrapped him up as well and laid him on his side.

I think I just need to go to bed and watch tv. Maybe the world will be right tomorrow morning.
