Those VG's are a gorgeous color, but gosh I can see where they got their names. My guineas have prettier heads than that and I thought they were only something a mother could love. At the price of $250, they can keep them all and in a year or 2 they keets will be the same price as all the others. Then when you see your neighsbor bird at 3 years old and he states he paid $250 for it as a keet, you can laugh and say, I just bought VG keets and paid $5 each for them.

My little peachick is not doing well, but still alive. Hopefully she will pull through, but I am not holding my breath. I guess I should have not intervened on this one, the best thing may have been non intervention.

CB, how is the peachick doing? I hope you are seeing improvement!!

For those of you that use a water wiggler or other "fake egg" in your bator, how much of a temp fluctuation do you see throughout the day? I get about 98 in the morning and then it goes up, slowly, all day long. Usually I get 101 in the evening. Is this too high, do you think?

Riqui I'd shoot for a narrower margin in the wiggler if you can get it. Try a jar filled with water and a secure lid. If you have eggs in the bator now - fill it with hot water to keep freaky fluctuations from happening. It'll bounce some when you add the jar - just let it settle in, don't adjust anything. After 24 hours check your variation again, it should improve.

So just add a container of hot water and make sure the lid on the bator is tight? I will try that. Won't that make my humidity rise though? That has been running okay, so...

HOLY HARD TO CANDLE GUINEA EGGS BATMAN!! How the heck are you supposed to see through those?! It took me a few minutes, but I could see veining in, at least, half of the 15. There were two that may have just had a blood ring, but I just can't tell for sure. The others...no clue - couldn't really see anything through that shell. Is this one of those eggs where you just wait and see what hatches and what stinks?! lol

If the lid is on TIGHT it won't add any humidity.

Yes, guinea eggs freaked me out to. They're like marans eggs, you just keep doing it til time's up and hope. Hang in there.
