Who Keeps Bees and Poultry?

The thing I had to adjust to with keeping bees is they aren't livestock...and the less I try and help the better. Daily care, interaction and assessment of livestock is normal. Initially I found myself staring at the bee boxes and wondering what's going on in there...is there something I need to do...how can I help? I found that it's best to "let the bees..."

My bees have no problem reminding me to leave them alone. They are very good at beeing bees. LOL.

Smoke is supposed to help but some folks don't like the idea, it bums the bees out for a few days (honey production drops). I wonder if smoking some legal Illinios weed would calm them down better??

Would you blow the smoke into the hive after a deep inhale? That makes me cough.

I avoid smoking the hive if at all possible as it gives me a hideous headache.

The other problem is that it isn't enough to even get you through the season as supers at least will also be needed.
