Who laid this?

Well I went outside early this morning and there were two birds sitting in the nest that had an egg in it yesterday. It was the pekin and a cayuga.:th

But the egg this morning was in a new nest and frozen. I took body pictures of the two who were in the nest. But I’m still leaning towards the Pekin. I’ll have to put out oyster shell and see who goes for it. It was too cold to sit in there for too long this morning.

Was the frozen egg the same color?
Awesome to have duck eggs!
Whichever is laying I still think it is pretty great.

Back when I kept ducks my pekin laid stark white.
Interesting to find out the CAN lay colored.
Yes it was the same color. But I put it in their nesting boxes so maybe they will start using it. Or I could just set up my camera I have for out there. Lol.

Ok. If it’s 30% can I mix it with something else?

Also, is 30% for pheasants or something similar?
The 30% you have is formulated for starting all types of gamebirds, turkeys, peafowl, guineas, etc. The vitamin and mineral content of the 30% is perfect for starting waterfowl, but the protein content is too high for waterfowl. Next time you're at the feed store get some Purina Flock Raiser (green bag) and some oyster shell.

I’m going to see which one it is first and if it’s the 30%, ask if they have other options. It’s my local co-op so I’m not sure what choices they have. You order it and they bring it out of the barn on a forklift. Lol, so you can’t “shop” per say on some items. If that’s all they have, I will go back to TSC. The main reason I don’t still buy from there is it’s a 30 min. drive. Plus I try to shop local when I can.

Be sure to check the date code on these bags. I worry about places like this selling their older stock first. :(

I have a feed store like that. They tried to sell me chicken scratch for duck food:( I guess I could ask if they could order flock raiser for me it sure would be more convenient.
I have to drive 30 minutes to get my feed.

Do they have a Purina or Nutrena etc...sign on door or out front...this will tell you there supplier. Most of time they will order it in if it's same supplier and then you know you get fresh bags.

The good thing about my feed store is I live in the heartland of “agville”. So they are always busy and the people are great. And like I said, the vet assistant works there so he is a ton of help. You can sit there and pick his brain. My doctors appointment ran late yesterday so i didn’t get to the feed store in time but I am getting ready to go now.

The egg I put in the nest boxes is gone...... I can’t find it anywhere. Lol. And no one in my family took it. So she’s getting sneaky. When I went out this morning, there was a new nest with straw covering the egg. I want to put the eggs in the nesting boxes to entice them to lay in those, but I don’t want them to hide them so well that I can’t find them! I’d rather eat them! Silly little boogers. I wish they would just do what I ask.....:lau

I will be looking when I go in a few minutes!
