Who Loves Rhode Island Reds

Hey NYREDS:

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I'm still a bit confused, in that I would think that a production bird would be bred to lay as soon as possible. Mine are 24 weeks (supposedly), and I have not seen one egg yet!

There is a possibility that the farm I got them from exaggerated their age, and they are not really that old. I keep trying to find pics of birds around this age, but have not been successful.

From the pics, what would you guess their age to be?

I have a rhode island red! Ironically, she was named Red. . .
She has a lot of black on her tail feathers and body. . . Is that good or bad???

That's Tri my favorite RIR who of course was the one eaten by the neighbors dog

I have 5 other RIRs however and they are great.
