Have you check out my bantam cochin thread, you oughta, I would love to see your cochins!

Absolutely! They're pets though. As the number goes up, there have been times I've noticed when talking to them or about them, I will go through about 3 different names before I get the correct name, but that could be me getting older. Between ALL of our animals, that's over 50 names!

I have Bertha, my broody. And seven the cockerel.

I have four bar rocks, and four ‘supposed to be bar rocks’ that are 13 weeks. Not naming them unless they earn it.

Small herd of dexters has names too. Pet their heads every day. One of our favorite days is when the butcher comes for these guys.

Only certain ones here get names. Not necessarily because they're stayingnor going. If a name clicks, they get it. I have a Phoenix cockerel that is hopefully going to a new home and he discovered his name was Gilbert when I was warming him off after almost drowning

Yes i know my drake to hen ratio is bad. 2 of the drakes had been sold to us as hens. We will be adding more hens soon.

Sure do!! My 4 hens have Irish Gaelic names. I put the name, its pronunciation, its meaning in English, then their breed. They are:

Bandia Sicín - (BAN-jeeuh SEE-KEEN) Chicken Goddess, Plymouth Barred Rock.

Stoirmeach - STOR-ah-muckh) Stormy, Cuckoo Marans

Siansa - (SHAHN-sah) Melody, Sapphire Gem

Sabhaircín - (saur-KEEN) Primrose, Buff Ameraucana.

I do not name them all. If they stand out in some way, I might. Otherwise, I identify them by band number or variety. Example: "Blue Silkie Drake" or "Silkie Hen with Red Band" Etc.
