I've been thinking about vaccinating for PMV and maybe even paratyphoid/salmonella. The vaccines are pretty expensive. Just trying to weigh my options and see what everybody else does.

Who vaccinates their birds?

If so, what do you vaccinate for?

Where are you getting your vaccines from, and how much are they?

Mine will have been vaccinated annually against paramyxovirus. It has to be an authorised vaccine witnessed by a vet or association members. This has to happen or you cannot enter shows or races. Unfortunately I do not have the certificate for this year but I don't think I'll be doing much racing this year! I'm not sure what other vaccines they should have.

In the U.S. it is legal to buy the vaccines and do it yourself, which I would do if I decide to vaccinate, and might have my mom or sister-in-law help me, they are both vets.

Hmm, so the place I'm looking to buy the PMV vaccine is $140 (before tax and shipping on ice) for a 100 dose bottle. You have 50 dose bottles for around $40 USD, so it seems what I am getting for around $150+ you are getting for around $80. I was concerned the price I saw may be way too much--but maybe not, depends on the country, could be different and harder to get in the U.S.. I know this one is made in the U.S., so who knows what their supply chain and other costs are.

Might have the pharmacy at my mom's vet hospital see if they can order it for me cheaper.

I'm not as concerned about paratyphoid as I am PMV, but if I do one I may just do both.
