Well she's not sure. They were part of a mixed special. They are all yellow, so I'm thinking Pekin. If you didn't notice, I have five ducks and three are drakes.

I'm hoping to get some more ducks so that I don't have to weed out the drakes.

We are attached to all of them, but the poor little girls.

ooh yeah! you have a high drake/duck ratio! LOL...the boys will be buzzzy! I have 2 drakes to 4 girls.. So 2 girls per drake.. Yeah..you need more ducks..

That looks expensive. And shrink wrapped babies is when that membranes are dried out like leather and the babies can't hatch. I tried to help the last two after the rest died one by one but the babied only lived two days before they died. It wouldn't have mattered at the point they were. They were going to die. They were breathing and peeping with out even having piped through the membrane and from what I heard, they are not supposed to be cheeping if they are not through to the air cell. I kept my hands off of them till they all began to die. The last two were on their way out anyway if I hadn't tried to help them. they were on about day 30 before I even thought about trying. And as they were dieing I opened the eggs to see what was going on. All the membranes were like leather. I hovered over those two babies for two days with warm mosit paper towles. drops of sugar water and talking to them. It was very heart breaking. They tried to live but things had just gotten so bad in the egg they were gone before they got out.

ooohhh wonder if thats what happened to one of my babies...hmmmm....it was born...and his body looked like all the gunk was matted onto him, I got a warm q tip with water, and was trying to get it off...and I couldnt...it was like stuck...he didnt make it either. Yeah I did the very same thing with my two...the egg shell was stuck to them also...poor babies looked bald...broke my heart.

I still hoping I get duckies!!!

yup..the boys are more raspy sounding..

I wish I didnt have such terrible luck with incubating; I would try to get in on this. My silly dog got ahold of my sons duck this afternoon, and it looks allot like your black and white ones.

I picked out 1 duckling from the bin at the feed store this spring. The one I picked up was squeeking its head off......She is definitely a girl, probably has the biggest mouth of them all!

My son got a duckling from a friend of mine, and I made sure he picked a really squeeky one....another girl

The two ducks in the 'duck, duck, goose' picture are from my own ducks' eggs. I had 13 or 17 hatched, don't remember. These were the only 2 I kept, cause they are cayugas (just need to molt that white off

) and they were big time squeekers.....both girls

It definitely works, if you have others to compare to.
