Who watches the chickens when you go on vacation???

You're right. You are truly blessed. I have a couple of family members and friends who love

it when I give free eggs but they are not willing to check on them at all. They should be

ashamed of themselves.

Me. I have to stay home and watch all the critters while my folks are out of town but I don't mind. It gives me a vacation from them also. When we board the horses we would go on weekend trips and know they were cared for but now they are at home and we don't trust anyone to care for them after a bad experience with a bad caretaker. If we only had chickens I would leave them locked up in the barn so they couldn't free range while we went away for a weekend every once in awhile with plenty of feed and water for them and not feel guilty about it.

I have neighbors I could ask if needed. But the longest I will ever be gone is an overnight. Coop and run are really secure. So they will be ok if I leave them.

That said. They have begun playing Queen of the waterer. So I need to get a hanging one that they hopefully wont play with and tip over

I feel extremely lucky. I have a neighbor, on the other side of our "country block", that also has chickens. She is always willing to come over to feed when we're gone for our yearly week of camping. When we returned, I gave her a 40.00 gift cert to a nearby restaurant.

hey, that's great. My wife came home with 10 , yes 10 large feeders. they hold over 10 pounds of feed. We only needed two . I have extras if you want . will take a photo and send. She selling them for 15.00 but you would have to pay shipping. They are well worth it and of course they are used. They are actually large turkey feeders , but they work good chickens. We are taking off for a week next week.
