when my wife first moved down from the big city she asked me why I was waving at everyone. Told her I'm waving at the folks I know and the folks that know my folks. Sometime a stranger gets in the mix, but who knows you might meet them someday!
LOL I wave all the time Im 16 and even when Im jogging I wave to almost all the cars. The guys on our xc team laugh they think its funny because they have never waved that much.
I'm a "high-hat"er. That's normally seen as an insult but people with only one good arm really shouldn't wave while driving.
I notice that Jeep owners wave at each other. So do bikers. Just about anyone driving a non standard car or truck wave at anyone in something like theirs.
*Sigh* I remember living in a town where you waved to anyone on the smaller streets (not the main streets, you'd wreck from having one hand on the wheel all the time!) My dad still lives there, and when we go there, sometimes you'll get people to wave, but it seems that the new generation is much less friendly.
It seems like in general people are more rude these days. Even walking through the grocery store, when I was younger, I remember if you smiled and said "hello" to a stranger, they would return the gesture. Now, they just look at you like you're some kind of creepy idiot who doesn't realise that the world has changed and nobody is friendly anymore.
I wave a lot. It drives my husband crazy, he thinks someone will pull a gun on us. LOL really I think it embarrasses him. Im too friendly, but I really like waving to people, especially when they get the puzzled look but feel obligated to wave back. I give the biggest smiles to those kinds of folks
I wave at everyone, whether I know them or not, when driving on the backroads. In town, I think people are tooo busy -- yelling at kids, talking on the phone -- so they don't realize someone waved to them. I also smile and say "hi" when I'm out and about in town.
I'm just weird, I guess.
