The Democratic Party was the first to accept minority Americans as on equal footing with white Americans. As well, the Democratic Party ensures, with laws, that all Americans must be treated with fairness, equality, and dignity. Racism is still alive and well today, as has been exhibited in this thread, although, at times, it is subtler than it was in the past. If we can't trust ourselves to do what is right by other human beings, I guess we have to put the government in charge to make sure that happens. I'm not surprised if members of minorities often feel more inclined to vote for a Democrat.

John McCain, a Republican, is still back in the women's suffrage movement. He voted against a proposal that would have guaranteed women of the same education and experience the same pay as a man with the same position in a company. He isn't even ready for the Civil Rights movement yet.

I think you need to look at the voting records of the democrats in the sixty's they were against the civil right s movement. And the only reason their the minority party now is for the votes as long as they keep giving them hand outs their just going to keep voting dems they could care less about them other then to get their vote

OMG I can even read another word of this thread! gamebirdsonly, you are stepping in some dangerous territory with me right now. I have three minority children and I will not stand for someone saying they exist merely for handouts.

Yes I vote Democrat, and I hope my children will, too. But it certainly wont be a Democratic vote for money from the government or public assistance. And it makes me sick you even inferring it.

I would highly suggest that if dangerous and gamebird wish to continue this further they take it to PM for further debate.

Belittleing any group or person is against the rules here. Please note this for any futher posts.

This thread has done very well so far and I really hope it can remain that way.

I was just going to comment on this, too. She's from the biggest oil producing state. Like Speck said, no accident there.

Tough on corruption? HA!
She is currently under investagation for doing something "corrupt"

It amazes me how any Clinton supporter (Democrat) can even think of brining up corruption. Clinton's have been the definition of corruption.

...the only reason their [sic] the minority party now is for the votes [sic] as long as they keep giving them hand outs their [sic]just going to keep voting dems...

I just literally got a cold chill up my spine upon realizing that there are people out there who really think and BELIEVE--and SPEAK/WRITE statements like the above. (I removed the author of the above quote so as not to point him/her out.) DANG, people. Really? What century is this?

And even if they WEREN'T posters or family members of posters here, that would not make it right to post racist bile! I like to consider this a safe place to come and post and read. No one should have to worry about running across stuff like this on Backyard Chickens. Plus, it really enforces the negative rural stereotypes that we fight so much of the time.

Well said

Okay, I'd like to see it.

Oblio...I hope you didn't mean you want to see my face...cuz it's scary..hahahahaha. But if you meant the proof of my claim...here are two links. The first one is the "Article" in the news that talks about all the wonderful things Viisage Technologies is going to do to protect us from Identity theft. (except I didn't ask to be protected from it, nor did I consent to how they are "protecting" me)
The second link is a Press Release from some of our state reps. that see this as I do, a threat to our privacy and one step closer to the loss of our liberties and a Police State.

Whether you agree with me or not is not important...just so you understand that this is where we are all headed...and if you don't like it you need to say something now before it's too late.

Thank you!

I am just going to say one more thing before shutting up, I promise: What you consider an unborn baby depends 100% on what you consider to be human. Lots of things which are technically, scientifically, biologically human, with complex tissue structures and a high degree of independence in tissue culture dishes, would not be considered human by 99% of pro-lifers. Lots of creatures with more awareness, complexity, and neural development than a third trimester fetus are also not considered the moral equivalents of humans, even though they are capable of rationality. So, what we consider to be a human worthy of human rights is in fact a question of religion more than anything else. That's fine, you can believe in any religion you want in this country, we're very free about that. If you want to believe that a baby gets its soul at the moment of conception or at the moment of quickening or when the temporal lobe develops significant activity in the cortex, that's fine. What you can't do is force your religion on other people.

There are many, many instances where children are not blessings but curses to their parents. The news reports, morgues and medical pathology textbooks are full of them. The one thing that I find in common with many pro-lifers I know is that they cannot truly empathize with a situation that is foreign to them, they cannot truly imagine what it is like to be in a position where they would feel differently than they do now. They say things like, "only a monster could do XYZ!" when in fact ordinary people do these things daily. When they personally do XYZ themselves, they insist that somehow their personal experience is different from that of everyone else's when in fact it's not a bit different at all; many abortion providers remark on the whole "my abortion is morally just, but her abortion is because she's a bad person" phenomenon. There are lots of reasons why they might have an inability to empathize, but that seems to be a common theme. And that's fine too, you don't ever have to empathize with another person if you don't want to, it's a free country. All you have to understand is that other people don't feel the same way as you. Praise the lord, everyone is different and it'd be a funny old world if we were all alike.

What does it have to do with religion? common sense tells you it's not right but oh well you can go and l have fun riping the embryo's out of the woman's womb if your so tough with this scientific crap then i would like to see you perform an abortion since it's not alive to you, you'd probably get all excited to watch a partial birth abortion. But hey to each thier own.
