The Democratic Party was the first to accept minority Americans as on equal footing with white Americans. As well, the Democratic Party ensures, with laws, that all Americans must be treated with fairness, equality, and dignity. Racism is still alive and well today, as has been exhibited in this thread, although, at times, it is subtler than it was in the past. If we can't trust ourselves to do what is right by other human beings, I guess we have to put the government in charge to make sure that happens. I'm not surprised if members of minorities often feel more inclined to vote for a Democrat.
John McCain, a Republican, is still back in the women's suffrage movement. He voted against a proposal that would have guaranteed women of the same education and experience the same pay as a man with the same position in a company. He isn't even ready for the Civil Rights movement yet.
I think you need to look at the voting records of the democrats in the sixty's they were against the civil right s movement. And the only reason their the minority party now is for the votes as long as they keep giving them hand outs their just going to keep voting dems they could care less about them other then to get their vote
OMG I can even read another word of this thread! gamebirdsonly, you are stepping in some dangerous territory with me right now. I have three minority children and I will not stand for someone saying they exist merely for handouts.
Yes I vote Democrat, and I hope my children will, too. But it certainly wont be a Democratic vote for money from the government or public assistance. And it makes me sick you even inferring it.
