I suppose I'll just never really understand how people who are "middle class" in this country got hornswoggled into this anti-union, anti-poor people, anti anything that shows we understand that we at the bottom are supporting a vastly wealthy class of people who control ALL of the money that adds up to

1/10th of 1% of the total population!!!!


There are actually books out there written by people who want you to buy into the ownership society because it makes people more self centered. This was done deliberately and with forethought.

Hats off to you, Chicken Lady.

Teachers have the most important job that could ever exist and our society does not treat you well. Teachers should be revered and honored, paid well, and respected. A friend of mine in college was from China. He said that when a teacher was coming down the hall it was the responsibility of EVERY student to get out of the teacher's way and not impede their progress in any way, including during class change on the stairwell. Total respect was non-negotiable. You deserve that kind of respect.

Teachers have our children in their care for most of their impressionable years and should be teaching these children to read, write, do math, to think and to express themselves. You cannot do that when you are worrying about funding, supplies, correcting out of date text books, keeping order in a too large class, etc., etc., etc.

If we want our country to be a great country, a leader, a good example for the rest of the world, we need to vote for who is really looking to the future, whoever is going to make sure ALL the children have the opportunity and resources to be educated to the fullest extent of their abilities.

Remember, these are the people who will decide how we will live when we get old.

Teacher's unions do not plan district budgets. A non-union member of the district administration, along with the school board (non-union) sets the budget.

(By the way, I didn't go to school for five years just so I could slack and "hide behind" a union. Sure, I belong to a union, but you can bet I'm also headed for my Ph.D. in education and WANT to be successful at my job). Whose goal in their career would be to accomplish less?

Then tell me why most of them vote democrate?

I do not believe that it is the governments place to require or even request that we perform Free Public Service. It is up to each individual, and their concience, if they want to perform public service in their community. I donate time to help in our towns Halloween Party for the local children. DH and I also donate money to various local and national non-profit orginazations that provide needed services to the handicapped, poor and animals. I have stepped up to the plate and donated items and money when families in the area have lost homes to fires. I loadded up my car with canned food items and pet food and brought it to our local drop off area, so that it could be trucked by others who were donating their time and trucks, to New Orleans after Katrina hit.
I, and people like me, do not need the government to interfere in our service to our communities. When the government gets involved, usually corruption, ineffectiveness and soaring costs are not far behind. Those who realy need help will be overshadowed by others who feel that they have a right to our FREE service, even though they may not be in need. I can judge for my self who needs my help!

Not me. Bearing a child, any child, is not a horror. Seems more logical to have the option to kill the rapist, not the innocent baby. Adoption is perfectly legal and the perfect alternative. I am adopted and I am glad my mother did not abort me. I am so tired of hearing a woman wants control of her own body. Well, that isn't her body. It's a separate human being with its own systems and functions. Birth control is a different issue entirely. Naturally, this is a hot button topic, but since it was brought up...there's my $2 worth. And I'm out of here because I really hate discussing this stuff, especially when I come to relax on a chicken forum. (slaps self on the hand, applies duct tape to mouth)​

Well here I go in for a penny in for a lb.

I am tired of trying to pick the lesser of 2 evils for my vote. Like it or not what they say to get elected and what they do when they are in are 2 very different things.

I don't know about you but when I am feeding my family mac and cheese I sure don't send steak to the neighbors. But our government does. I want American money to stay in America, I want our guys home taking care of buisness here, we have plenty they don't need to be any where else. I want all importing to stop. I want to buy made in America not made in any where but America. I want illigals gone, I want the honest people who have came here and jumped thru all the hoops for their Visa to be respected. I think if you own land in America and are not a citizen then you should not get tax breaks their taxes should be doubled, Americans should be given breaks on taxes. If you travel and work for the Government then you pay for that travel not the US citizen and you don't get paid by us to go. And I also want to see Government people held accountable for the lies and the hurts they do to the American citizens and the towns and states they mismanage. And when their job is done as a president, then their pay should be done.

And I want the Govener of MI to be the first one held accountable for the misdeeds she has done to MI. When she said we would be blown away the fifth year she wasn't just a kidding, we will be a ghost town by the time she gets done.

And as far as education goes, well I want to see the 3 R's reinstated, I think if they stuck to reading, writing, and math and throw in Computers that anything else can be taught in those subjects, I am sick of seeing kids getting their degree and not being able to read, write or do math. I also want English to be the number one langauge in America, if you come here you should learn our langauge not the other way around. I want America to stay America I don't want to unite Canada, Mexico and America to become one big happy family.

And I know I have the right to write in a canadate that didn't make it to the big vote. If everyone exercised that right I just wonder how interesting this election would get.
