I know how you feel. It recently happened to me with serama eggs. I walked away from the computer thinking it was done since no one placed a bid in days and BAM. I lost but luckily the seller sold me some eggs anyway.

the "BID AT THE LAST MOMENT" ebay trick, works all the time, but it sucks when it happens on a good rare item

Honestly I think that auto-bid method is cheating. Part of bidding is having that last second talent. . . Not letting a machine do it for you.
