Have you hatched chicks from these? my understanding is the hens should be genetically barred, it's just masked by the dominant white. You should be able to get sex link offspring off them if you use a non-barred rooster, it would be best if the roo is a darker color so the headspot is visible at hatch. That's how folks with white Rocks end up with a barred bird once in a while and freak out--it's just been masked for so long.Can I see a picture of your RSL hens?
That's so strange.. Barring is dominant when using a pure barred rock rooster over any hen. I should get 50% barred, 50% white (with ghost barring). I've hatched over 20, and had had mostly whites. A few barred.
It's a theory, anyway!
