Who's been hurt making their coop/run?

I hurt my right shoulder swatting at very large carpenter bees. The male guard bee and I have been at it for about 2 weeks, he doesnt like me in his territory next to the barn. He hovers by my coop and watches me, occassionally making a nose dive at my head, I HATE BEES!!!!!!!, I recently read up on them and found out the males cant sting you, they have no freakin stinger, in the mean time, i hurt my shoulder, back and have become very aware of anyting that buzzes by my head. I think we have come to an understanding, and we seem ot be able to work closely together. If you could see what I am talking about , you would see how funny it really is.

I fell 12 feet off a ladder on my back and hit my head. I thought I was dieing. I was alone at home when it happened and could not even move for a few minutes. When I got up, i could barely walk and had to walk kind of squatting like. I immediately went inside, layed down in bed and called my mother who lives out of state. I wanted to let her know what happened in case I died. It was such a hard hit on the back of my head I really thought I was not going to live.

My head hurt, I was dizzy and could barely walk or lift my head up for several days. That was a few years ago.
Thank goodness I lived...I think

I also stuccoed my house, inhaled stucco powder and developed breathing problems. I tried to chop a root that was pertruding up out of the ground and axed my toe wearing flip flops. Blood went everywhere. Another time I went in the garage and hit my hand on a cardboard box the wrong way and blood spurted out of my hand all over the place. I still don't know how hitting my hand on the corner of a cardboard box broke the skin and cut a vein. Another time a hammer fell on my big toe and the toe nail came off. I ruined my complexion in the sun. But the worse of all was the time I thought I was going to die when I fell 12 feet onto the back of my head.

Not sure if this would count but it IS chicken related well sorta...........Hubby and I went to close up birds late one night well after dark, no flash light in hand. Stumbled upon a pygmy rattler and he my brilliant hubby went to pick it up. Spent 36 hrs in the hospital.

Monday, my 5 year old ended up on the losing end of a battle with welded wire. She got stabbed in the top of her foot. The wire must of got her just right, because she ended up with blood gushing out of her foot. Seriously, there was a puddle. I felt so bad for her!

Power drill (with screwdriver bit) slipped off the target and dug a hearty gouge out of my finger. Couldn't use it (the finger) for weeks. The drill was OK, though.

Then, I went to pull a small board off a shelf in the garage and dislodged a piece of 2x6 I had on the top shelf. It fell on my face, loosened a tooth and split both my lips. I'm a teacher (talk talk talk talk), so work was fun for the next 2 weeks...

This weekend I was working on fencing the duck run with my cousin helping. We were setting wooden posts for the gate frame. He was using a steel tamper bar. The balled end of the bar came down on my big toe. Thankfully I was wearing tennis shoes, but it is very painful and purple. I'm still debating whether I need to see a doctor about it.

I also got several scratches from the hardware cloth, and a bad sunburn.

But the ducks are now outside in the grass instead of stinking up my garage.

I'm allergic to bees so I don't bother trying to work with them. Windex will kill them so I set my spray bottle on stun and shoot to kill! It won't harm the goats other animals like bug killer will and even if it doesn't kill them it knocks them out of the air so I can squisk them. Silly, I know, but it works for me.

Just a suggestion from a totally hobby builder. Be careful when you've using ANY power equipment that plugs in!

Try using battery powered screwdrivers, etc., IF you have them, whenever possible. There are not nearly as powerful as those that use direct current. i have been working on 3 projects at the same time. ONE is flooring a small attic and that project has fought me every which way (PM if you want details.) Since, I'm doing it solo, I make sure to keep my drill unplugged when not in use. The project doesn't use lots of screws, so I am hand-screwing them in. I get ENOUGH bumps and bruises from care-taking my horses, and mowing and care-taking the property! (I call them "mystery bruises" because I can never remember how I got them. Have to reassure people that my DH doesn't hit me!

Please be careful! I am so sorry for all of the PAGES of injuries I keep reading.
