Who's got December molters?

I have one hen born spring last year. She’s the only one left from that batch. 16 born spring this year.
The older hen started her molt a couple weeks ago. Freaked me out! I thought she was sick for sure. She wouldn’t let anyone touch her, and the amount of feathers all over scared us.
Learned it’s normal, but I wouldn’t think December would be a great time.

Eleonor, our Black Australorp just started molting a few days ago! We live in WA State. Temperatures get into to upper 20’s or mid 30’s at night! Mid to upper 40’s during the day! We are wondering if she will get cold during the night....hopefully the others will snuggle with her to keep her warm!
I have two hens that look just like that one on the right in the second picture. Any idea for sure on breed?

Mild temps (for Northern Minnesota so far) But much to my Chicken Mom fears I do have a Barred Rock who finally just unfurled those blood and pin feathers. She still looks like a smaller chicken than what she used to look with big, in-full, bloomed, warm-air cupping mature feathers. She really held on to those feathers this fall. And I got her as a hand me down chicken but I'm sure her hatch was March or April. IDK...

Just as she has come into some feathering. I have a Lavender Ameraucana that dropped hers last week. Looks like there was a pillow fight in the coop. Darn it. I hope Minnesota holds off a bit with the subzeros. She'll be getting some Tuna and Sunflower seeds. To push things along. She is a bird from a Southern States breeder and a July hatch. I did not think 18 months ahead on that purchase. eek....

By the way, if you have juvenile molters they count too! So if you bought or hatched chicks in fall and they are growing in their new feathers right now, feel free to post those as well.

So glad I found this thread! My mottled cochin Bantam is molting too. It's good to hear others are too. She's a bit sorry looking but not a hard molt. She's lowest in the pecking order and the others had pecked feathers off her head and neck so it's nice to see feathers coming in there now. I'll get a picture and put it up.
