Who's Hatching Ducks? Hatch With Us!! *Page 3*

wifezilla, glad they are doing better and their eyes are clearing. To bad you cannot find out what caused the eye issue, it would be a great learning issue.

Wish I knew too. Bacterial contamination may? I just found out my son had been opening the lid on the incubator (he is autistic...and very curious...LOL). I think my next attempt I will use foam blocks OUTSIDE the incubator for turning instead of turning by hand.

Some of mine already have internal pips - but no action. I did candle this morning and they were all moving - so now I just need to leave them alone.

I hate waiting!

Are you hatching call ducks too?

Well I'm late to this tread but I have one splash Swedish out of the shell resting and another pipped. Out of the seven I got I'm afraid that's all that are going to make it but at least we got the two of them. I hope at least one is a hen.

Just checked - got one external pip.

Still the other one internal pip - no new action on it.

Would be nice to get more than one duckie out of this batch - since I don't have anymore in the bator right now.

I have a little baby duck, the others didn't make it. I think it has to do with the location of the incubators, though I can't get a straight answer (or any answer) about it. Oh well, at least I have 1. It looks like a rouen/pekin mix. It came from a 'big' egg (not the rouen's), and it looks like a rouen, so it must have a rouen daddy and pekin mama

Plus it has a lot of yellow spots on it, rouens don't normally have this much yellow on them! Not bright yellow anyway! Hmmmm....though I believe it has black feet? Which would say cayuga?? Now I'm confused!

Ok, to stop me from touching the hatcher... I took some pics of Squishy and Spiffy.

This is the only one that halfway turned out - I have chicks in there, too. Spiffy is smaller than the chicks he hatched out with - and Squishy is three weeks old (but was still larger at hatch than Spiffy was). Spiffy is probably the tiniest ducky I've ever seen.

You really ought to see Spiffy in person, she is such a tiny sweet thing. When I pick her up she "bills" my hand like she's eating my fingers

(I say she is kissing me

) Then she settles in and just hangs out there.

Squishy, on the other hand, freaks out if ya pick him up
