Who's Hatching Ducks? Hatch With Us!! *Page 3*

Awww!!!! So cute!!!! Shelley, I'm sorry you didn't have a good hatch. Wish me luck - I'm into the home stretch. Remember, the original title to this post (before I changed it) was hatching chickens and ducks together. I had 25 chicks hatch today with more on the way, and my duckies are due to hatch Monday. I took a vacation day because I told them it was D-Day (Duckie Day!!!)

Congrats to all and thank you for sharing this with me.

We are on the same day!

Some of mine already have internal pips - but no action. I did candle this morning and they were all moving - so now I just need to leave them alone.

I hate waiting!

Are you hatching call ducks too?

My first calls were all infertile! But I just stuck a bunch in, so should know in a week if these ones are gonna go the distance. Right now I have two runners that are going to be out before morning I just know it! They are trying so hard! Then I have another runner who looks to be behind these first two, and a buff goose.

I can't wait!

2 baby Aussie Spots hatched today- day 26!

I have 2 more eggs in there -no pips on them yet, but I'm hopeful! These 2 are adorable- 1 light and 1 dark. I think a blue head and a green head, but not sure. I'll take pics tomorrow; they're still wet looking. They are so tiny!

seems early to me- I was thinking 28 days. I just put them in the hatcher last night...these 2 had pips already then!

Ok, to stop me from touching the hatcher... I took some pics of Squishy and Spiffy.

This is the only one that halfway turned out - I have chicks in there, too. Spiffy is smaller than the chicks he hatched out with - and Squishy is three weeks old (but was still larger at hatch than Spiffy was). Spiffy is probably the tiniest ducky I've ever seen.

Ohhhh my goodness....I didn’t even realize the little guy on the bottom!!!! I was mesmerized with the beautiful one above. What kind is it?? I love the coloring! The little one is so cute, I want to steal them both! What kind is it? Call I assume?

I guess technically I did. I have one little bantam BR chick that hatched today as well. I wish I knew what the problem was...it must have to do with the location of the bators
barnie.gif
I just today set 9 scovy eggs, 24 of my duck eggs, and 2 blue american geese eggs...maybe I should move the bator?

I have 3. The one that they are in right now is a hova 1583, the other 2 bators (1 bator, 1 hatcher) are both still air LGs. They are in the spare bedroom, which also has 2 brooders with chicken chicks, and 1 brooder with quail chicks. Plus my button quails' cage is in there. I'm thinking maybe all the dust is affecting my hatches? I was getting 90%+ hatches in my still air LG last fall from my own birds' eggs. I haven't been able to hatch chickens this year to save my life, mine or shipped. I have a bit of extra luck with mine, but not much. The best chicken egg hatches I have had so far had 6 of 12 hatch and 6 of 10, both shipped eggs. One set was incubated in the hova, and hatched in an LG, the other was incubated in the LG and hatched in the LG, so I can't figure it out. I have no problems hatching shipped quail eggs, and my buttons' eggs I get about 65% which is pretty good for buttons I've heard. Any ideas?

ETA: I set all my quail eggs in the hovabator, since it is the one that has quail racks for the turner. I plan on getting rid of the LGs and getting another hova (or 2), but I can't right now
