Thanks for the advice! My incubator does not have an automatic turner, how many times a day should I turn the eggs. There is so much info online its contradictory. I have read as low as two turns a day will suffice but I've also read as high as 24 is recommended. Also do they need to be turned through the night?

My goose and one more duckling is pipping right now. I think the other two ducks have quit but will give them more time. My next hatch is already getting into position - only one ducking though! I candeled my call eggs and YES! They are fertile! So everyone who was on the list your eggs will start going out!

I'll have pics of my little "Spot" soon - he's all fluffed up in a box right now. Those Holderread geese are HUGE and just walk all over him so he had to have his own room.

It is so nice to have a thread just for duck hatching!

congratulations to everyone who hatched and stay patient to everyone who is waiting - I know it is hard!

PS - can't wait to see pics of your calls Sundown!

3-5 times is adequate but if you can do 5-7 that is great. No more than that is necessary. Try to do an odd number so the egg doesn't land on the same side over night.

My remaining duck has been named...

It seems to be doing OK. Preening, eating, drinking, playing with lettuce leaves, pooping everywhere. It has the "other duck" in the mirror for company, and a "Thing 2" doll. I will pick up a turkey feather duster after work. When JJ was newly hatched, s/he loved the duster and would snuggle in it to sleep. I called it "the baby sitter". Great for a lone hatch.
