i got 54 eggs in incubators. all we can do is watch and hope for the best. we picked 5 eggs to candle every night for the kids. Always the same 5 eggs.

Candling results 9/9/09 day 7
100% fertility, even on the shipped eggs!
From the mutt hen in residence all 5 eggs are viable, lots of veining and movement.
One of hers (#1, laid 8/29)

From the 10 shipped eggs, 8 were veining and moving but on 2 I think I have blood rings. Those 2 are below:
#1, start of a blood ring? (dark shells here, had to enhance photo a bit)

#9, pretty sure that's a bona-fide blood ring, also dark shell

The third on, the ring goes all the way around and there's not a lot of veining, the second one though, there's veining on the other side of the egg so I'm on the fence. Leaving both in for another week just to be sure though.

I've got a broody sitting on five eggs. A mix of RIR/BA and BA eggs. Let's see.. I think that this is day six. How exciting. I heard that hatchery RIR never went broody! Ummm... someone forgot to tell my girl!
