Who's incubating?!?

Lockdown is tomorrow for three shipped duck eggs, a guinea and a few chickens. Some of the Muscovies don't seem to be doing well which isn't a big surprise to me due to circumstances and they aren't known for being the easiest to hatch. 18/22 of the other chicken eggs are developing nicely and are a week along today.

Three of the ones that aren't are from the same hen, I've not been able to hatch any of her eggs or even get them to start developing. So need to look into that more.

Good luck on your hatch! What breed is the hen that you can't get her eggs to develop?

Thanks! She's just a random barnyard mix, about a year old. She lost an eye to pox and currently shares a coop with a bantam rooster who takes care of her very well. Before he came along, she was having a lot of problems, but she's doing much better now. I'd like to get some chicks from them...guess we'll see.

A lot of my hens are molting and slowed down cause short lighted hours.

It was happening to my older hens too, and I started feeding them that Feather Fixer feed as it has more protein in it to help them grow back the feathers so they can get back to laying eggs better again. When they are molting, the regular protein intake is being diverted to grow the new feathers, instead of going towards the productive egglaying sytem.

First timer here! Just started 55 Coturnix Quail eggs in my homemade incubator (project with child). Tested the incubator for several days and several thermometers and light bulbs - seems to be holding temp and humidity pretty well, so if I get a decent hatch rate, we'll be happy! About 18 days to go!

Nice! That’s exciting, I’m sure you’ll get a good hatch rate! What did you make the incubator out of?
