Very excited! End of Day 4, when turning my Quail eggs in the incubator, I candled about 5 eggs just to see what I could see. My first foray into incubating eggs and raising quail. 4 of them had development with veining evident in at least 3 (4th one harder to see), and the 5th egg was absolutely clear with even brightness all around (therefore not fertile) and I removed the egg. I'll wait a couple more days and do some candling with my 11yo.

I am relieved as I built this incubator (styrofoam still-air incubator using 25w bulb) and adjusted Temp and RH before adding eggs, but the first morning (approx 8 hours after adding eggs) one thermometer registered at 106F! the other thermometer in a different location within the incubator registered around 101F. I vented the incubator, adjusted the light (I had luckily wired it to a dimmer in case it needed adjustment), and have been maintaining a much better temp since that first morning. approx 55 eggs in the incubator, so hopefully I'll manage a decent hatch!

Well, my "tester egg" has an embryo in it! So I put the others in today. 28 eggs in bator.

Well congrats! You sound a lot more prepared than what I was when I first incubated eggs! Lol are they your chickens eggs or shipped eggs?

I've got 7 eggs from one of my showgirls in the 'bator that I set on the 11th.
Then I have 14 eggs that I set on the 18th----they are a mixed bunch.

My silkies and ducks aren't laying at the moment, but I'm hoping to set their eggs soon along with a dozen other eggs from one of my pairs.

I set 8 barred rocks last Friday 11/17 . This is my first go at incubating and am way to excited. This is my hens first laying season so I may not have a great hatch rate but excited to learn all I can!!

well that’s exciting lol I’ve always wanted to incubate my chickens own eggs but I have never had the chance lol it’s a nice feeling to know you raised them from chicks and then they have kids of their own lol

I've got close to a dozen eggs that is now due in 4 days. Therefore they will be hatching on my birthday (My chicks usually hatch on day 18/19/20) The rest won't be due for a while and I also have 2 more broodies with eggs that are due very soon.
