It's been hard. I have a huge sweet tooth and seriously could eat like a birthday cake with some of that buttercream icing, slaps self, gain control, okay. I'm proud of myself. It's so worth it.

Anything that makes me poop myself is not my ally!!!!!!!

j/k

Have you tried going for walks? It is really good for you. Be careful with diet pills. Just my opinion.

I am seriously considering trying it. I will be facing surgery on my ankle sometime this summer to remove a bone chip. And I want to loose about 50lbs before that.
I walk daily and such. But need the assistance.

I will have to see about picking some up.

The only way you are going to have bathroom problems is if you do NOT follow the rules!!!!!

I took it over a year ago as I wanted to lose weight. I wanted to lose 20lbs. I started it in 2007in September. I took it till Thanksgiving and I had already lost 10lbs by that point. I went on vacation to Hawaii and did not resume the pills till after the first of the year. Then I started back up again for a few months and lost the other 10lbs. I stopped taking it in March of last year and have kept it all off.

The key is you have to meet the required number of calories and fat, not over and not LESS!
I started at 1400 calories a day and I think it was 47 gms of fat per day.
It is a lot of counting for the first week till you figure out a routine and what you can and cannot have. Its not a fake diet where they give you premade food and you can only eat what they give you. A friend of mine was on Medifast and did good at first, till she got tired of the soup and shakes. She did not learn anything about how to change what you make to eat.

I ate a bagel and cream cheese every morning for breakfast. You cannot use Lean Cuisines with this diet, there is not enough fat in those. I was often adding butter or salad dressing to my food to get enough of the fat per meal in. I never had a bowel issue. I often would make a meat, a veggie and 1/2 a potato for supper. I drank water and diet pop. I still had my coffee. I started buying the "I can't believe its not butter" spray- no fat- no calories. I still use it. When I needed the extra fat for a meal, I used ranch dressing or light ranch or light butter, depending on how much fat I needed to add. Lunches at work I ate regular tv dinners that had about 15g of fat total. If you keep it to about 15 per meal, it works good.

Get the Alli cookbook at Walmart. Lots of great recipes in there.

Also wanted to add that I did not do any extra excersise andmy hubby was on this diet too just the food change, not the pills. He does not need to lose weight but his blood pressure was high. Working through the recipes in the book, he loved them and he is in perfect health now. Once you train your brain to eat better, it helps. We almost never have fast food, and we used to eat a lot of boxed prepared meals. Not any more. We do splurge though sometimes, we had hotwings and pizza for the superbowl, and still no more gain.

I guess I'm just still not understanding WHY on earth you would take a pill that requires you to eat 15 grams of fat per meal? Thats an outrageous amount of fat per day - 47 grams of fat is what you said you had daily and 1400 calories to start just to lose weight - what did it go up to or down to once you got into it?

Just eating that amount of calories - lets forget the fat grams for a moment - just those calories would keep you at 140 lbs if you at the same thing every day - not fluctuating with your carbs or fats - staying at a maximum of about 30 grams of fat per day (which is about the normal daily allowance) - 140 isnt big by any means - so its possible to lose the weight just by eating 1400 calories and watching the fat content alone. TV dinners? OMG those things are loaded with sodium and fats - including trans - those are not healthy for you by any means. Do you know how much food you could eat if you fixed it yourself over eating 1 TV dinner? At least 2 full meals!

You're still counting calories and watching your fats even taking this pill. So I dont understand it....

I guess I'm just not seeing it with this Alli thing. If you want to lose weight - eat healthy, watch your calories and fat content and exercise, even light exercise will do wonders. If you cant exercise (I'm very limited myself - due to medical issues even at my size) but I try to eat right so I can maintain where I'm at. I'd rather learn to change my eating habits and lifestyle and make an entire lifestyle change - thats what Southbeach does - I do a modified Southbeach and I eat a ton. Now..here in the past 3 -4 months I've rocked off of it and gained 10 lbs but...I know I can lose it just by getting back on the horse and doing what I know I must do - stop eating the candy and junk (I'm a candy freak...twinkies are my love LOL) and there we go - I'll be back to where I want to be. I have severe fibromyalgia among many other things so exercise is very hard for me - but I do try - so I know how hard it is for someone who cant exercise, but even some is better than none.

Pills just dont work - there is going to be a backlash somewhere down the line with this pill that "flushes the fat" out of your system - why not just stop eating bad foods to begin with?? Be safe and dont harm your bodies.... I just worry so much about things like this because I've lost friends from pills that were "supposedly safe"

Please be careful you guys.

It goes by your weight and height. I weighed 160 and did not feel comportable. At that weight and my height, that was the required amt of calories and fat a day. once I hit 150 (I think) I rechecked the chart and I was changing to 1200 calories and 35gms of fat a day. The more you lose the more you check the scale but 1200 was about the limit. Most people eat up excess of 2000+ calories a day.

And I only actively counted the calories the first week till I knew what I could and couldnt have and then it was easy. Since being off the pills, I have not done anything different. I eat bad things in moderation only and we rarely have fast food and I almost never buy a boxed prepared meal anymore, which I was doing all the time then. I cook a real meal for supper. I eat a granola bar and banana for breakfast. Since having my gall bladder out 5 years ago, I suffer from IBS and have discovered I am lactose intolerant so the bagel and cream cheese is out.

My hubby is allergic to chocolate and we never have desserts in the house because he does not eat them. I do not count calories and fats since i stopped the pills. I have just applied the diet changes I had learned during the diet with Alli to teach me a better way. It is STILL a lfestyle change. And yes, I feel that even if you bought the pills and decided not to take them, what they teach you in the booklets would STILL teach you to lose weight.

Your body REQUIRES a certain amount of fat each day. If you do not reach that amount, your body will conserve what it has and you will not lose any. The key is to give your body what it needs to live, and no extra.
