Who's Setting Eggs This Week[end]? [August 8-14]

Just got finished candeling (Day14) and we are down to 7/15 shipped eggs. One of the 7 is questionable. I saw the chick in there but no movement. The other 6 all had good air cells and moving chicks. Weight loss is good on all eggs so hopefully we will have some chicks next week.

The egg came from one of my jersey giants that just started laying. I just hatched out 3 jersey giant eggs the size of serema eggs. Thg

thanks for asking. It is just cloudy. It rained all night last night. Little bit windy before bed... I haven't notice anything else. we were ready for the worse tho... so glad that is passed up. Hope you guys are ok up there... I see it is going for FLA.

We are getting ready this weekend also. Keep telling the hubby that I need the generator tested. Lock down is Tuesday and the storm may hit us Tuesday night. Go figure. I have a possible 7 to hatch.

I did try the 2 flashlights. Still hard to see, but I was able to see movement at least. yippee

I go into lock down Tuesday night also and it looks like Isaac is going to be be just to the west of us around that time. Praying that we don't lose power.

Woke up to 3 more chicks! Two brown Americaunas and one dark Brahma mix. Now my preemie isn't lonely in the brooder. I'll post pics soon. More pipping going on.

Total is 6 so far. When they are pipping rocking and hatching one right after the other, it's a real letdown when there are 6 eggs left and nothing happens for HOURS. I get a foreboding feeling that they are going to be duds. Does anyone else get this psychosis? Here are the first 3 in the brooder. "I've fallen and I can't get up!"

Yay!!! I just bought some new eggs off of ebay!
I got 3 lemon over black [gold laced chicks]
and 3 blue/chocolate over black/chocolate [not sure what I'll get out of there]
Only $20 including shipping so I'm super excited. I will start them in my old crap incubator and when my other group hatches, I'll move them over to the brinsea.
In retrospect, I wish I had gotten the 20 eco instead of the mini advanced....I can only stick 7 eggs in the mini.
Also bidding on 6+ Pure English Orphingtons.
So at the end of the day, I'm going to have Pure English Orps, 75% English Orps and plain Orps. My BOs are girls though, so the eggs will sti


ll have the English lines in them....I can't wait for these babies to hatch and start growing

How well are your shipped hatching for you?
Have you hatched out the 3/4 english yet or are they in the incubator still?My hatch that i got only onec hick a black guy is part engish didnt say how much.I like their puffy lkk & short leg look.My guy doesnt look short legged at all though at 2 weeks.

I've actually had really good fertility with them. Out of the 4 original (I waxed one crack closed and saved it) all 4 are growing....and my second seven eggs, I saw babies in 6.

English orps supposedly have pretty poor hatch rates, even when they're not shipped so I'm feeling pretty good about it right now.

i just saw this thread... so i'm kinda late posting but, i set: 6 silver sussex eggs Aug. 2nd, 6 turkey eggs Aug. 4th, now on Aug. 23rd i had 1 lone silver sussex chick hatch (but i set 10 speckled sussex eggs at the time), Aug. 24th i set 10 more speckled sussex eggs. all these eggs i have gotten off of ebay as no one where i live has anything except game, RIR, barred rock, dominquers, or the like.

fingers crossed that we all have a good hatch rate.

I have read alot of threads where people had silkie eggs hatch a few days early is this a normal thing?
