Who's Starting the 3-Day-Wait Today?

I have started saving eggs for the next batch. Is it ok to save them in the fridge or to leave them out. This would be my second try at this. I have 1 day left before these start to hatch

You can supposedly store them at 55 degrees for up to 10 days. A cellar or woodshed might be ideal, with a higher success rate than the fridge.

What if I just left them in a carton at room temp? Or maybe in the coop. the hens will sit on them. I have a buff that gives me a through cussing when I take her eggs

update now have 12 hatched after thermostat went out only two to go not sure if they made it or not. Am waiting until tonight to check on them. Have to say after what happened I am so very happy thought they all were goners. Congrats to all and I will post pics when I move them to brooder if I can figure out how on this forum.

I've hatched eggs stored at 50-60, at room temperature, outdoor found eggs, refridgerated and eggs that came in from the coop at almost freezing (34 degrees).

You know, most of em, done right hatch about the same as perfectly stored eggs. Now you probably will have an overall better success rate from perfectly stored eggs the whole 50-60 degree thing.

But in many cases, life finds a way.

Just hatched a 34 degree'er and might name him Mr Freeze.

The refridgerator chickens I forgot to mark and cant' tell.

I have one named Mulch, guess where I found that egg? In my mulch pile in the sun.

I have a pip I have a pip I have a pip

I left for about 2 hours or so and when I got back the humidity had dropped to the point I had to open the bator to add a wet rag ( already had a dish of water and two sponges) I just slipped it in and put the lid back on after that I looked thru the window and saw a pip

Im so scared I hurt him but the humidity was at like 45% I had to get it up. The humidty in my room isnt that much off what was in side the bator so hopefully the shift wasnt to horrible.

Come on little chicky hatch .................
