Thanks junkmanme. I hope so too. I have never tried hatching a double yolker so I don't know if it normal for them to take longer to develope and hatch? They were still lookin' good on day 18. I guess all I can do is wait and see.

First day on BYC in a few days, and I just noticed this thread. I've got eggs hatching today. I set 7 bantam cochin eggs under a bantam cochin mama, and 5 mutt eggs (2 green, 3 brown) under another bantam cochin. Last time I checked (about an hour ago) there were 4 bantam cochins (2 blue and 2 splash) hatched, and 2 mutts (one from a green egg and one from a brown egg). Each mama has 3 eggs left to go. I didn't expect the mutts to hatch until tomorrow, as they were set on the Monday after Mother's Day. The bantam cochin eggs were set on Mother's Day.

The baby daddies for my mutt eggs are a silver-laced polish and a silver-spangled hamburg. Possibilities for the brown egg mamas are barred rock, australorp, or silver-laced or golden-laced wyandottes.

All the eggs are from my birds. The bantam cochin parents are all blue.

First let me introduce myself. My name is Jeff, I live in east Ky. I farm small scale with horses, and come from a long line of poultry men. I have 55 eggs in an incubator that at 21 days would be June 1. At this point, I have 8 healthy looking chicks and several others that have pipped. They are Auraconas (probably misspelled) and the rest are mainly barnyard mix. When I got the eggs, the oldest were 2 weeks old, and some have hatched. I am using a LG 9200 that I have added a muffin fan to, as I had bad luck as a still air incubator. Temp 99, and humidity 50 percent until yesyerday and raised to around 60. So far so good. I also have an older LG with wafer thermostat and muffin fan added with 59 eggs due June 15. I will candle maybe tomorrow. I'll keep you up to date on the progress. I have read many of the posts, and have enjoyed all. Even having grown up with raising poultry, the posts have been quite informative. Good to be here. I hope all has a great evening.

I couldn't keep my hands to myself, and had to look under the mama with the bantam cochin eggs.

She's now got 5 babies out of 7 eggs. Come on babies, let's go! At least 2 splashes, and maybe this last one is splash. I just got a quick glimpse, but it looked very light-colored and still wet. I'M SO EXCITED!!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I have hatched from incubators for a few years and I have experienced most of the problems that others have at one time or another. Sometimes I just got lucky. I feel like by adding the fans to my incubators my hatch rate will improve some. I do plan on building my own incubator at some point, but I'll discuss that on that thread. I am hand turning the eggs this time as I have used a turner in the past. I can say that with the LG incubators, I have had overall good results, but I have to watch the temp closely. I'll post again tomorrow about the results of this hatch.
