Whose the ugliest turken? (Show us your beautiful turkens!)

So just how do you keep them out of the sun when they are foraging? Mine are out till it gets really hot in mid afternoon and really the red skin on the neck is highly prized. As a bird gets older usually the redness will spread down the neck. These pics were taken in dead of winter when the bantams are housed out of the sun.

They went to my neighbor, whose chickens had recently all been killed by a neighbor dog. Luckily the neighbor with the nasty dog had already moved...

Yes, they had lots of shade where they moved to, but my girls always had their choice of sun or shade. They free ranged during the day, and they all had really red necks. The pic that I posted was when they were about 15 or 16 weeks old, and their necks hadn't suntanned yet.

I loved my turkens, and am keeping my fingers crossed that more come next week!
 
Good luck! Keep us all posted. This isn' really a major show with a prize or winners, just a place to post your pics, and MAYBE get judged. Or whatever. Just for fun. LOL
