Why am I getting these misshapen eggs consistently?

Out of curiosity, I check WADDL my state lab to see if they had testing for infectious bronchitis available. I did find this on their site- https://waddl.vetmed.wsu.edu/search-tests/Panels/Test-Details?id=922
I noticed the testing was done through blood, which is what I expected. Is this something I can do myself? I'm assuming no, but I'm not sure. If I can, I would be fine with doing it as long as I knew how.

She's a little over a year. Not a new layer, and not old. Thats whats puzzling me. I've gotten 3 so far, so about 3 weeks. They get 20% protein Scratch and Peck starter. I don't think its an unreasonable about of protein. Also wanted to mention, the eggs aren't double yolk.

I have started to look around a bit for a good avian vet. As much as I would love to avoid a vet appointment, mostly for poor Pinecone who is very skittish, I might have to look into it. Unless there's another way to get testing. Since she's so scared of people, I'd love to keep her on the property for any testing, thats why I've been hesitant.

@azygous @Wyorp Rock Thoughts on the large eggs?
Thats strange. Hopefully you figure out the cause :hugs

I know you can take blood from them, but not sure how you could test them yourself. I don’t think so.

I certainly wouldn't be testing them myself, I would have no idea how to do that. :p I mean drawing blood and sending it in. Is that something I can do, or do I have to have a vet do it? I figure it can't be rocket science, but assuming I still have to pack it right, etc, wasn't sure if I could do that or not.

Me too, its so odd. If it was a one time that that would be one thing, but multiple times? :idunno
Im actually having a very similar issue with my serama.
She has been laying many thin shelled eggs, but she eats enough calcium. I will monitor it more i suppose, but she has unlimited access.

Breeding not going well, because they just keep popping, and she keeps eating the inside, not sure if she is popping it on purpose, or accidentally doing so and then eating the stuff inside, but hopefully its accidental.

I think you might be able to do that. I don’t see why not. I think you would get it from the brachial vein. I could be wrong.

How old is she? Have you tried giving her calcium citrate? Sometimes they have a hard time absorbing other types of calcium. Calcium citrate is the easiest to absorb. I might give her 1/2 a table of calcium citrate for people daily until it clears up. Thats what is normally recommended.

Shes 1 year old, but looks 1,000.

I’ll do that. She has laid thin shelled about 5 times. but i was wondering if it could be the worm medicine i gave her. Thanks!
