Why are coop plans so expensive?

You have to do something about the "stupid looks" though.. I suggest a nice pipe.
Maybe one of those curved ones like Sherlok Holmes used to smoke.. You don't have to light it up,just hold it and stare at it and put it into your mouth once in awhile..

My nesting boxes made the remainder of the job easier. I'm just going to build a shed with a slant roof and make cuts for the nesting boxes I already built. That leaves only two things to frame out - the pre-hung door and a hatch for cleaning under the fenced perimeter roost. Get to your library and if that doesn't give you what you need, go to Lowes or Home Depot and get some shed plans. Remember to try and keep everything square as you go. It just makes everything fit better. Keep the studs at 16" centers.

Here's a freebee.

First visit my site and see the pictures. Link is at the end of this reply.

My nesting boxes start with a 1 x 12 x 14" base. Then I use Gorilla Glue (and GLOVES!) to nail and glue the following:

Cut 1ea. 1 x 4 x 14" and attach to outside edge
Cut 2ea. 1 x 8 x 14" and cut a 45 degreeangle from top corners...attach to the side so the peak is to the center. You could carefully cut 1 27" board.
Cut 2ea. 1 x 8 x 12" and attach them inside the last two (on top of bottom piece) leaving a 1/4" overhang on the inside of the box for cleaning.
Cut 1ea. 1 x 3 x 14" and attach across the inside front at the bottom.
Cut 1ea. 1 x 8 x 12" and rip a 45 degree angle the full length of one edge.
Cut 1ea. 1 x 3 x 12+" and attach to 45 degree cut of last board. The + notes you should measure inside last two boards for a close, but loose fit between sides.
Attach the roof insert assembly to the base assembly with two hinges. I used oversize hinges so it would have enough slack for roof to seat inside. You may need to trim the last two side boards on base so the roof can stop even with 45 degree angle sides.
Cut 5ea. 1 x 4 x 12" cedar fence pickets with a 45 degree angle at one end. Attach these to the 45 degree insert assembly to make a overhang roof.

You can line the entire thing with shower pan liner, a 5mm pvc product from Lowes and it will be easy to clean, waterproof and windproof. As for price-off remnants.

Cut rectangular holes in the shed walls and screw them on from the inside while someone holds them in place.
