Why are my “Silver Appleyard” white?

Any breed can really throw white, if it's been bred in at some point and some of them are still carrying it.

Mini silver appleyards aren't actually appleyard at all, they are snowy. In the UK (where they call the snowy color silver) they just call them silver bantam ducks to alleviate the confusion that has caused. They too could carry white and throw it, if any white ducks were used in the making of the breed and the recessive white hasn't been totally bred out.

Or, of course, if the ducks that were sold as mini silver appleyards were crosses instead and carried white from the crossing, as could well be the case in this situation.
