Hi

I bought a trio of mini silver apple yard about one year ago. They were meant to be ‘mini silver apple yard’ but I am not sure because they are definitely larger than my call ducks. Is it right?

However, the main question is “Why are my Silver Appleyard’s babies white?”
About 2 months ago, they had gorgeous ducklings. Now that they are 2 months old, I can see that 4 out of six are white. How is that possible? Is that a good or a bad thing in terms of quality of the breed?

I am just about to sell my ducklings, but they are so white and gorgeous that I am feeling a bit of pain in my heart because I am not sure whether they are going to have any more white ones in the future.

Cheers!

Sam

The silvers can and do throw whites, you breed white to white you get all whites. Holdereads has then I believe.

Holderread's website says Silver Appleyards can throw white ducklings due to genetics, but doesn't elaborate. Mini silver Appleyards are actually a completely different combination of genes to get a similar appearance, so I don't know if white ducklings can happen with them too.
