why are my chickens not laying eggs

They will go in for the next boxes once they are established in that is where they should lay. The lack of daylight can set back the onset of laying. I often have pullets that were raised by broodies that reach laying age in the shortest days. 1 just started laying yesterday. There is hope of pullets starting to lay when the days are short, they just might be a bit older than spring pullets at the start of lay. I live in NWPA

thanks I think ur right the breed is a... light brahma so like alread 6?pounds

Brahmas are heavier so yes especially as he gets bigger a lower roost will be much easier for him to get on and off of.

I got a chuckle out of the talk of cold weather. Eastern PA has had maybe 3 days of cold weather. It has been cloudy & rainy for the last month. I miss when we had real winters, long ago.

for real i just ment that it was getting less hot but we have a house in the mountains usaly gets atleast a foot of snow so far none this yr
