Hi everyone👋
I have four three week old chicks that are ripping up their paper towel. They only seem to to it when the paper towel is wet but I am wondering if they are bored and trying to entertain themself? if you think they are bored please let me know of some tricks to entertain them thanks.

Yeah, it’s normal for chicks to dig around and find something to do. Paper towels(toilet paper) soften really easily, I like to use dog pads for padding and it seems to work great. Maybe try to use something that is harder to tear...

to keep them busy, you COULD take them out on a field trip. I usually start taking my chicks out for small breaks at 3 weeks. Everyday for about 3 more weeks, and then they are out full time. I like to put them on electrolytes during this time as well so they have an immunity to coccidia found in the soil...some people also like to just dig a pod of soil into the brooder...so they don’t get cold by going outside.

Mine discovered that that was fun today too.
Their natural instinct is to dig. At this point I'd suggest switching to/adding in bedding, whether wood shavings or whatever it is you plan on using in your coop. That way they can satisfy that urge and also get used to the new material.
So tomorrow I'm going to take out the paper towel and put in shavings.
