Why are my poults so tired??

Most chick starters are in the 18-20% range for protein which is too low for turkey poults. Get a bag of the Dumor 24% chick starter and feed them all on that. Better still would be gamebird starter in the 28-30% range, but it can sometimes be hard to find. You should notice some improvement on even the 24% starter.

I have met some very knowledgeable people in feed stores over the years. Unfortunately they have been far and away outnumbered by the people who knew nothing at all about what they were talking about.

Hello I'm new to turkeys as well I got 2 from my local tractor supply and one has gotten some weight and runs around drinks and eats meanwhile the other just stays under the heating lamp and sleeps all day. I've made it drink water and once in a while I'll see it drink on it's own but not often. I have them with my chicks on 19% chick starter it's all my local TSC has. Im not sure if that's the issue if the other is doing just fine I was hoping someone could help me out.

Turkey poults need a high protein (28% to 30% protein turkey or game bird starter feed for the first 6 to 8 weeks followed by a quality turkey or game bird grower usually 24% protein for the next 6 weeks.

Your poults are undernourished and it isn't just about the protein. They are also not getting the proper amounts of lysine, methionine and niacin.

I personally would not even feed chicks a 17% protein starter. It is a low quality feed that does not allow for their proper development.

If you have your poults on wood chip bedding, it is possible that the sick one has eaten some of the wood chips. Without grit in its system, it cannot digest the chips and will develop blockage and die.

There are other possibilities too.
