My pullets just started laying eggs for about a week and a half ago and they are really small! About 60% the size of a normal egg from the store. Is this normal? Will they get bigger or do Cochins just lay smaller eggs?

They will become larger, but depending upon the strain they may not lay large or extra large eggs ever.

Out if curiosity, how old are they? I can't figure out an average age for Cochins to start to lay...

Thanks!!!!

They're about 5 months old. Well, it look like we might get a couple extra birds to make up the difference in egg production. I'm still getting 2-3 eggs per day with 3 birds though so not bad!
