Why are my two females mating?

It's completely normal behavior. My all female flock of 6 ducks all "mated" each other many times daily and even made stacks of 3. Some say it is dominance, and it may be in some flocks. In my flock the most dominant duck would request that the least dominant duck hop on top. So I believe that they are just very sexual creatures. We don't spay/neuter our ducks like we do our cats/dogs and our ducks are hormonal with a strong drive to procreate - so this behavior can be startling. In my opinion, from my observations.

Yes, the brown female(khaki Campbell) is usually the one to go on top of the other, she is the oldest female, only by a month though.
