Why are they trying to trip me....

I am quite confident if you fell down and cracked your head open they would eat you.

LOL another funny. Ya that's what I am afraid of LOL

Ok, since you asked. I close the door after the 3 hens that are laying have laid their egg because if I don't all 18 chickens would stay in there all day and its way its too hot and part of the savages job is to eat the bugs and they aint eating bugs in the coop. BTW there is a large feeder in there and some days the coop is open till 3:00 if no eggs in the morning.

Guys, the savages have plenty of food and are very spoiled, healthy and beautiful. They have a 10x20 coop and range on 3 totally fenced acres of pasture, pond, barn shade trees and all.

I was just finding the humor and some of you got it.

I, too, love the Chicken Parade. And I think it's *I* who am out of step, messing up the cadence.

It starts on the back porch, to gather for the start of the Parade. Then any laggards (from free ranging) join during the short pace from the edge of the porch to the run gate. (I only treat IN the run.)

They love you!

Ok, maybe they just love the treats you happen to bring.

Mine do it too and it always makes me laugh.

Sorry, but I totally disagree with the ones that are saying they are "starving for good nutrition". Mine do this and they get a very good balanced feed, and free range all day long. Every time someone walks out the door they run like crazy and mob us to see what we broght them. They love us for our treats!

my 18 month old son laughs his head off when he walks outside with his sandwich in his hand and chickens come bursting out of every nook and crany of the yard to "share" his lunch, he even "bauks" to them

now when he goes outside they do a single file line and follow him all around the yard they love him (i think they think he is one of them because he is closer to their size) when he makes a high pitched squeel , no mater were they are in the yard the will high tail it to him and trip anyone who gets in their way

I have the opposite problem. Mine free range all day and I have to have a chicken rodeo type roundup with the lawn tractor every evening. But occasionally my big rooster gets in front of me during the day and tries to herd me, as he would his hens. They have not been eating a lot of their Layena lately, so they must be getting plenty in the yard. I leave their coop open all day so they can go in for feed and water.
