Why arent the eggs getting fertilized ??????

My 7 month old roo mounts my hens and acts like he fertilizes them but every egg they have laid hasnt been fertile ( I made a candler and there was no cloudy spot.) Could it have he was just experimenting or is it that the hens are just starting to lay eggs?? Please help

It is impossible to tell whether or not a unincubated egg is fertile or not. Veining will be readily noticeable in an incubated egg between 4 and 7 days depending upon the color of the egg shell and your abilities. There is a thread somewhere about 'fertile eggs' which shows the blastocyst on the yolk of a fertile egg. To see this, one must break the egg and check the yolk.

you will need to incubate them for about 2 days then candle them!
